Privacy Policy

At Helmet, we don’t track you, ever. That is the essence of our Privacy Policy. Most other browsers and security tools build profiles of your behavior to sell ads or 'improve' their AI. We architected Helmet so we don't even have the ability to see your history.

1. No Collection of Personal Information

Helmet does not collect, store, or share any personal information. We do not require an account to use the browser. We do not know who you are, what your email address is, or where you live. Your IP address is never associated with any identity on our infrastructure by default. Since Helmet is delivered exclusively through the Apple Mac App Store, it follows Apple's privacy policy. Only 'Data Not Linked to You' is required to provide payment methods and product licensing.

2. Browser Firewall & URL Scoring

To protect you, Helmet evaluates every URL before it loads. This process is 'Privacy-First'. When a URL is checked against threat intelligence feeds (like VirusTotal), the request is proxied through an anonymization layer. We do not associate your machine ID with the URLs you visit. Unlike traditional browsers that send your full history to 'Safe Browsing' servers, Helmet processes as much as possible locally on your Mac.

3. Local Storage Only

Your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords (via Keychain), and firewall decision memory are stored exclusively on your device. We do not provide a 'cloud sync' feature because cloud sync is often the primary vector for data leaks. Your data stays on your Apple Silicon hardware.

4. Technical & Diagnostic Data

We may receive completely anonymous crash reports or performance metrics (e.g., 'Application crashed at memory address X'). These reports contain no URLs, no personal files, and no identifying metadata. You can opt-out of these in Settings at any time.

5. Third-Party Intelligence Feeds

Helmet integrates with premium threat intelligence providers. When the browser requests a 'Score' for a site, it sends only the domain or a cryptographic hash of the URL. These third parties never receive your identity, your browser's unique fingerprint, or your IP address.

6. No Cookies or Tracking Pixels

The Helmet website and the browser itself contain zero tracking pixels, Google Analytics, or marketing cookies. We believe your movement across the web should be your business alone.
